Chrysocolla
Chrysokolla is a polished stone known for its stunning blue-green hues, often with intricate patterns reminiscent of waterfalls, rivers and still lakes. It forms in oxidized copper veins, and its vibrant color comes from the copper content of the mineral. Chrysokolla is a copper silicate, which makes it both unique and sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. Found in countries with rich copper deposits, such as Congo, Chile and the United States, this stone has a long history in arts and crafts. In ancient times, chrysocolla was used as a pigment in paintings and to decorate jewellery.
Did you know?
Chrysokolla has been used as a natural pigment for blue and green colors in historical art, especially in paintings and decorations. To use it as a pigment, the mineral is pulverized into a fine powder. This powder can then be mixed with oils, eggs (in tempera paint), or other binders to make paint.
The stone is sold individually, and size and color will vary.
