The storm glass has been in use since the 1700s and was commonly used by fishermen at the time. The glass can predict short-term weather changes based on variations in air temperature and atmospheric pressure.

  • Large flakes in the liquid = Cloudy or snowy weather in winter.
  • Small threads near the top of the glass = Windy conditions.
  • Small stars on sunny winter days = Snow is coming.
  • Crystals at the bottom = Frost.
  • Foggy glass with small stars = Thunderstorms.
  • Clear liquid = Bright and clear weather.
