The storm glass has been in use since the 1700s and was commonly used by fishermen at the time. The glass can predict short-term weather changes based on variations in air temperature and atmospheric pressure.
- Large flakes in the liquid = Cloudy or snowy weather in winter.
- Small threads near the top of the glass = Windy conditions.
- Small stars on sunny winter days = Snow is coming.
- Crystals at the bottom = Frost.
- Foggy glass with small stars = Thunderstorms.
- Clear liquid = Bright and clear weather.
