Pyrite, often referred to as "fool’s gold" because it resembles real gold, is an intriguing mineral known for its perfect cubes. These square shapes form completely naturally deep underground and look as if they could have been made by a machine! Pyrite cubes sparkle in the sun with a metallic surface that makes them extra fascinating. Pyrite mainly consists of iron and sulfur (FeS₂) and is used industrially in the production of sulfuric acid. The most perfect pyrite cubes come from Spain, but the mineral is found all over the world, - also in Norway, including Sunnmøre.

Did you know?
When pyrite strikes steel, it creates tiny sparks – perfect for exploring how fire was made in the old days!

The pyrite cube is sold individually and size and shape will vary.
