Carnelian
Carnelian is a captivating, polished stone with warm orange and reddish tones, which appears to glow in the light. It is a variety of chalcedony, with the color created by iron oxide incorporated into the stone during its formation. This gives carnelian its characteristic fiery hues, from mild apricot to deep rust red. This stone is found all over the world, including in Brazil, India and Uruguay. Carnelian also has a long history as a valued gemstone – from ancient Egypt, where it was used in jewelry and amulets, to the Roman Empire, where it adorned seals and rings.

The name "carnelian" comes from the Latin word cornum, which refers to the red berry fruit dogwood, whose color recalls the warm shades of the stone.
